Tata Power-DDL Organises ‘Annual Rewards & Recognition cum Cultural Event’ for ABHA Members

• 841 ABHA members from 218 JJ clusters participated in the event

In a bid to support women empowerment, Tata Power Delhi Distribution (Tata Power-DDL) today organised its Annual Rewards and Recognition and Cultural Event for ABHA Members wherein the efforts and achievements of 841 Abha members for the year 2018-19 from 220 JJ clusters  were recognized. The event was conducted by Cultural Club working under the Special Consumer Group.

ABHA Members are women representatives who are engaged in reaching out to the residents of JJ clusters in order to maximize the visibility and benefits of community initiatives being run by Tata Power-DDL. The initiative helps to empower impoverished sections of the society.

A total of 150 ABHAs were recognized and honoured for their contribution to bring in the changein the today event. Special prizes were  given to ABHAs who have maximised digital payments, extended maximum contribution in customer delight & shared highest number of  innovative ideas. A special award for ABHAs reporting maximum safety incidents and spreading safety awareness amongst JJ residents was also given. The prizes included LED TVs, TATA Swach Water Purifier, Smartphones, etc.

Addressing the participants at the event, Mr. Sanjay Banga, CEO, Tata Power-DDL said, “We at Tata Power- DDL continue to work towards the upliftment of the underprivileged section of the society, specially women, by empowering them through focused social innovation initiatives. The ABHA initiative helps women to empower themselves both socially, with improved personality & respect in the society, as well as financially by having a regular income.”

About Tata Power Delhi Distribution’s Social Innovation Initiatives:In line with Tata group’s core purpose and mission to improve the quality of life of the communities it serves through long-term stakeholder value creation, Tata Power Delhi Distribution has been striving towards the improvement of quality of life and upliftment of people particularly for those residing in Jhugghi Jhopari (slums) Clusters. 

The company is working tirelessly in 220 JJ clusters , resettlement colonies and villages in its power distribution area of North and North-west Delhi through  841 women Abha members who represent a community of over 2 lakh customers.

Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited (Tata Power-DDL) is a joint venture between Tata Power and the Government of NCT of Delhi with the majority stake being held by Tata Power Company (51%). Tata Power-DDL distributes electricity in North & North West parts of Delhi and serves a populace of 7 million. The company started operations on July 1, 2002 post the unbundling of the erstwhile Delhi Vidyut Board (DVB). With a registered consumer base of 1.8 million and a peak load of around 2106 MW, the company's operations span across an area of 510 sq. kms. Tata Power-DDL has been the front-runner in implementing power distribution reforms in the capital city and is acknowledged for its consumer friendly practices. Since privatization, the Aggregate Technical & Commercial (AT&C) losses in Tata Power-DDL areas have shown a record decline. AT&C loss is a measure of overall efficiency of the distribution business which is the difference between units input into the system and the units for which the payment is collected. Today, AT&C losses stand at 7.3 % which is an unprecedented reduction of around 84% from an opening loss level of 53% in July 2002.
