TATA Power-DDL recognised amongst India’s BestWorkplaces for Women

TATA Power-DDL has been recognised amongst India’s Best Workplaces for Women 2019 and ranked amongst Top 75 organisations on the list Great Place to Work, India.

The criteria for identification for the same comprised of the experience of women employees, people practices specific for women employees in the organisation and feedback of both male and female employees in the organisation.

More than 747 organizations were evaluated to identify organizations that have successfully created a workplace environment where women experience parity with their other colleagues. After a rigorous assessment, the Top 75 organizations have been identified as ‘India’s Best Workplaces for Women 2019’.

Earlier this year, Tata Power Delhi Distribution had been ranked 4th in ‘India’s Best Company to Work For 2019’ survey by the Great Places to Work Institute. The award bears testimony to company’s commitment to enhance professional growth of its employees by setting new standards in the company’s work culture. It also highlights Tata Power-DDL’s efforts towards employee-friendly human resource policies and high engagement initiatives to enhance productivity and cultivate a harmonious and caring work environment where each employee creates an impact.

The company’s endeavour is to provide empowerment to employees and create a strong distributed leadership in the organisation that encourages them to bring their best to work every day. The skills and competencies of the employees are constantly upgraded through higher education programmes/ exchanges designed for employees with utilities across the globe. Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited (Tata Power-DDL) is a joint venture between Tata Power and the Government of NCT of Delhi with the majority stake being held by Tata Power Company (51%). Tata Power-DDL distributes electricity in North & North West parts of Delhi and serves a populace of 7 million. The company started operations on July 1, 2002 post the unbundling of the erstwhile Delhi Vidyut Board (DVB). With a registered consumer base of 1.8 million and a peak load of around 2106 MW, the company's operations span across an area of 510 sq. kms. Tata Power-DDL has been the front-runner in implementing power distribution reforms in the capital city and is acknowledged for its consumer friendly practices. Since privatization, the Aggregate Technical & Commercial (AT&C) losses in Tata Power-DDL areas have shown a record decline. AT&C loss is a measure of overall efficiency of the distribution business which is the difference between units input into the system and the units for which the payment is collected. Today, AT&C losses stand at 7.3 % which is an unprecedented reduction of around 84% from an opening loss level of 53% in July 2002.
